Handwriting on the Wall – A New Interpretation

The story of the handwriting on the wall appears in the bible in Daniel, Chapter 5. That version has King Belshazzar puzzled by the writing on the wall by a disconnected hand.

The traditional version goes like this.

“This is the inscription that was written: mene, mene, tekel, parsin

“Here is what these words mean:

Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.

Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

A new version replaces Belshazzar by the current POTUS.

“Here is what these words mean:

Mene: The voters have numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.

Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

Peres: The country can be re-united and given to the people. ”
